Sony has reopened the sale of PS5 Pro in Japan, but not everyone will be able to buy the console.To apply to the Sony Store, you need to prove that you actually play on PlayStation: at least 60 hours on PS5, PS4, or both consoles in total.
Application conditions
- The Sony account is registered in Japan, and the login ID is combined with My Sony ID;
- From September 27, 2024 to September 27, 2026 11:59 pm Japan time, at least 60 hours of play on PS4 and PS5;
- You can only buy one console per account.
The window for calculating hours closed even before the start of accepting applications, so it is useless to play for time now.
Deadlines and lottery
Applications are accepted from September 28 until midnight October 7.If there are more applicants than consoles, Sony will hold a lottery.The company promises to announce the results around October 26 by letter to the account address.Winners will have to make a purchase on a special Sony Store page, the deadline is November 2.You cannot buy a console using this program in regular Sony Stores.
If the winner does not have time to pay for the order, his console may go into the second drawing among other applicants.
Set and price
The box contains a PS5 Pro with 2TB storage, one DualSense controller, two horizontal feet, HDMI and USB cables, power cord, printed materials and ASTRO's PLAYROOM pre-installed.The price is 137,980 yen with tax, which is about $877.The console is only shipped within Japan.
The fight against resellers
Sony does not directly call 60 hours a way to stop resellers, but publications see this as precisely the goal.The company warns: an application, winnings or purchase will be canceled if it decides that the console is being taken for resale or false data is indicated on the form.
PS5 Pro was released in November 2024, and previous batches in Japan sold out very quickly.
