The fan campaign #SaveMassEffect, launched after the closure of BioWare, collected more than 200 thousand verified signatures on Change.org in its first weekend. This follows from an IGN article updated on October 26th.The petition asks EA not to stop the series, and both Shepard voice actors have already joined the call.

Shepard's voices in support of the petition

Jennifer Hale, who played the female version of Commander Shepard in all three original games, recorded a video dreaming about the future of the series. It imagines fans raising money on Kickstarter, investors and then a worthy game company joining them, and then creating a team that will bring Mass Effect back to life for the community and for the creators themselves.

Male Shepard was voiced by Mark Meer.He talked about the sad news for Edmonton, where BioWare worked, and for the entire industry, and then called for signing a petition with the words “Save Mass Effect.Hold the line."

Destiny and Owlcat players joined the campaign

Destiny players played a significant role in collecting signatures. The community was already organizing when Sony decided to stop producing content for Destiny 2, and is now sharing the petition on Reddit and social media.IGN recalls that last month Destiny players forced Bungie to reconsider its plans, so they have experience putting pressure on the publisher.

Help also came from the Owlcat Games studio. On the page for the role-playing game The Expanse: Osiris Reborn in X, the developers asked subscribers to think about the caption and added that The Expanse series has already been saved by fans, so the #SaveMassEffect campaign has their full support.

Chances of revival

IGN himself assesses the situation soberly: returns of this magnitude are rare, and it is unknown whether Mass Effect fans will be as lucky as Destiny players. But the fans, judging by social networks, are not going to stop.
