No Man's Sky received a free Cosmos 7.0 update. This time, Hello Games focused not on planets, but on what lies between them: new flight targets, station management, orbital bases, and dismantling abandoned ships appeared in space.

Previously, after takeoff, most often I just wanted to turn on the impulse engine and fly on.Cosmos tries to give reasons to stay longer in the system.

There are more flight targets in the system

A map of the current star system has appeared in the quick menu.It shows planets, a station, signals and new objects in space. After scanning, you can select a target and set a course for it.

New locations include asteroid belts, outposts, wrecks, platforms and huge abandoned ships. You can even fly to the star of the system: now it is a separate destination, and not just a bright background.

Abandoned ships can be taken apart

For large frames, individual structural elements can be removed and the load can be pulled out.For this, Gravitino Coil and the ship's Tractor Beam are used.

There is also a risk: the ship has limited strength. If you get carried away with disassembly, the structure will begin to collapse and may explode. Therefore, it is better to first scan the skeleton and decide what is really worth taking.

The space station can now be controlled

After fulfilling the requirements of local authorities, the player can become the station director.Inside, you are allowed to change the central hall and add rooms; outside, you can customize the design of the building.

The station is needed not only for beauty.Through it you can create a galactic alliance, invite other players and combine several systems.Alliances have their own ratings.

Orbital bases are no longer tied to a planet

Cosmos allows you to build bases right in space. You can anchor yourself on an asteroid or occupy a piece of empty space and build a station from scratch.

For builders, this is perhaps one of the most interesting parts of the update.Previously, large bases almost always began on the surface of the planet. Now you can make a home where previously there was only a route between two points.

Cosmos coincides with the tenth anniversary of No Man's Sky

Along with the update, the Our Journey Continues expedition launched. Its stages refer to the major updates that No Man's Sky has received over ten years.

We recently separately recalled how the game has changed during this time.Cosmos continues this story well: instead of another set of items, Hello Games is once again remaking one of the older parts of the game.

What is changing in practice

Cosmos doesn't turn No Man's Sky into a different game.Planets, resource extraction and construction are still here. It’s just that now after takeoff there are more reasons not to immediately press “fly to the next planet.”

How long the new classes will last will become clear later. But the direction is successful: space finally got more of its own things to do, and did not remain a beautiful road between worlds.

What is more interesting to you in Cosmos: your own station, an orbital base, or dismantling abandoned ships?
