At Tokyo Game Show 2026 they gave us the opportunity to play for the first time Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance.Capcom showed not only the new monster Araketa and the return of Teostra, but also the Boost Action mechanic, which changes the behavior of all 14 weapon types.

Boost Action is built into regular combat
The Power Up Bracelet temporarily unlocks special actions for the selected weapon. The gauge fills over time and from hits, and destroying wounds through Focus Strike in a boosted state prolongs the effect. Therefore, Boost Action does not look like a rare “ultimate” ability, but like another layer on top of the usual combinations.

It is especially important that the system covers all 14 types of weapons. This gives Capcom the ability to change the pace of the hunt without abandoning the control schemes players are already familiar with.
Araketa makes you watch the whole flock
New Araketa hunts in a group. The leader gives commands by shouting, after which the remaining individuals launch a coordinated attack. The team can be disrupted if a Focus Strike is carried out at the right time on the open throat of the leader.

This turns the battle into a goal-priority task: it’s not enough to just stay close to one large monster, you have to monitor the behavior of the entire group.
Teostra is back with new power attacks
The Elder Dragon retained its fire and explosive dust, but received new strikes and reversals that punish more for counterattacking too early. The return of a familiar monster shows the expansion's approach well: the recognizable base remains, but the familiar safe windows change.

Capcom continues to expand the basic Wilds itself: we previously examined Monster Hunter Wilds coming to Switch 2. Ascendance will be released in 2027 and will require the base game.
