The Outbreak team is developing a free technical modification of Left 4 Dead 2. This is not a new part and not an official remaster.

Outbreak updates the technical core, not the story, of Left 4 Dead 2
The Outbreak team has presented details of a fan project for Left 4 Dead 2. It moves the game to a 64-bit engine branch based on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive technologies and expands the possibilities of modifications. The authors emphasize: this is not a continuation of the series and not a new set of official campaigns.
What will mod authors and server owners get?
The developers name among the goals improved stability, support for modern systems and the removal of some of the technical limitations of the old engine.Changes should remain optional: the team is committed to maintaining compatibility with the original gameplay and user-generated content.
What rights did Valve give to developers?
The official Outbreak website states that this is a licensed fan-made non-commercial modification. However, the permission relates to technical work and distribution through Steam, and not to the creation of new story materials based on Valve's intellectual property. To run you will need to purchase Left 4 Dead 2.
When will Outbreak be available to everyone?
There is no public release date. The authors plan to gradually expand early testing, and some of the current builds are available only under a non-disclosure agreement. It's too early to promise a quick release.
