Kirby and the World Beyond will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2027.Nintendo calls it a new 3D game in the series and puts the main emphasis not on the size of the world, but on free movement and unusual use of abilities.
After Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the series returns to full 3D levels. But World Beyond ties Copy Abilities noticeably more strongly to exploration: abilities are needed not only for combat, but also for getting to new places.

Abilities become part of movement
Nintendo has already shown several examples. With the help of bombs, Kirby can throw himself into the air, the sword allows him to cling to trees and rise higher, and certain abilities allow him to quickly cross open areas.
This is more important than simply increasing the number of appointments. In Forgotten Land, abilities primarily changed combat.World Beyond tries to make them navigation tools, so the choice of ability potentially affects how the player explores the level.

The world is built around a big barrier
The plot begins with a meeting with a girl with mysterious powers.Kirby must save her from King Dedede and understand how she is connected to the new power of the hero himself.
At the same time, the path is blocked by a huge wall.Nintendo hasn't yet explained what's behind it, but the name World Beyond directly emphasizes the idea of going beyond known boundaries. This is still a plot mystery, and not a promise of a completely seamless open world.

Don't call the game open world in advance
The official description talks about a vast world and free exploration, but Nintendo has not yet revealed its structure. It is unknown whether this will be one continuous map or a collection of large areas.
Therefore, it is more correct to talk about extended 3D research. This is still a significant step for Kirby: the game relies more heavily on verticality, speed, and route-finding, rather than just completing stages in sequence.

The main question is how free the passage will be
Forgotten Land worked well precisely because it didn't try to stretch Kirby into a huge map.Her levels were compact and constantly changing the situation.World Beyond will be most interesting if freedom of exploration doesn't kill off that momentum.
So far, Nintendo is showing the right direction: the familiar ability copying system is getting a new function, and 3D space is becoming part of the challenges. But there is enough time left before the release, and the exact structure of the world, the developer and the age rating have not yet been officially announced.

What's more important for the new 3D Kirby: large areas to explore or compact Forgotten Land-style levels?
