September 2026 leaves no time for quiet acceleration. The Blood of Dawnwalker and Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be released in the first days, and in the second half of the month they will be joined by Marvel’s Wolverine, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and Control Resonant.
This is not a complete calendar. We've picked five games that best represent the month's personality: dark RPGs, the return of an old Capcom series, a big PlayStation exclusive, and new Nintendo tactics.
The Blood of Dawnwalker – September 3
The first Rebel Wolves game revolves around Koen, who remains human during the day and gains vampire powers at night. His family is in captivity, and story missions move time forward, so it’s impossible to help everyone in one playthrough.
The main risk is clear: the time system can turn freedom into constant pressure. But developers use it as a resource, not a stopwatch. If the choices truly change the world and the fates of the characters, Dawnwalker will have its own identity and will not remain just the heir to The Witcher 3.

Platforms: PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword – September 4
Capcom is bringing back Onimusha without a direct plot connection with the old parts. The action takes place in Kyoto at the beginning of the Edo era, and the main character is Miyamoto Musashi with the appearance of Toshiro Mifune.
The combat system relies on parrying, depleting the enemy's stamina, and precision finishing moves. The new Break Issen should make signature counterattacks more accessible, but not turn battles into regular slashing. The demo version already allows you to check the pace of the game and fight the Daidara boss.

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
Marvel's Wolverine - September 15
Insomniac relies on aggressive melee combat.Logan uses claws, kicks, special moves and a three-level rage scale.Development is built on techniques and adaptations that change defense, parry, and the effectiveness of rage.
The game will include additional challenges, collectibles, different costumes, and claw options.New Game Plus, mission replay, photo mode and more than a hundred accessibility settings are announced at launch. The main doubt is not the number of features, but whether there will be enough variety in the combat for the entire campaign.

Platform: PS5.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave - September 17
The new Fire Emblem takes players to the Heroic Games and tells the intertwined stories of four characters: Kai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda.Between battles, you can explore the capital of Dagsion, train and strengthen relationships with future allies.
The series once again tries to combine tactical maps with life between battles. This structure gives the characters more space, but easily inflates the pace.Success will depend on how different stories actually influence each other rather than repeating the same actions.

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2.
Control Resonant – September 24
Remedy takes the action from the Oldest House to a twisted Manhattan.Dylan Faden becomes the main character, and Jessie has disappeared.Instead of the previous emphasis on shooting, the studio promises closer and more aggressive combat with the Aberrant's shape-shifting weapons.
Changing the hero and the city is a risky move. The first Control relied on the strange architecture of the Bureau and the character of Jesse. If Manhattan retains its sense of unpredictable space, a sequel could expand on the original's idea rather than just make it bigger.

Platforms: PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.The Mac version is announced for a later date in 2026.
How to distribute a month
If you need a large role-playing world, The Blood of Dawnwalker looks like the first candidate.Fans of collected action will find it easier to start with Onimusha, while PS5 owners will get the most straightforward blockbuster in Wolverine.
Fire Emblem is suitable for those who value tactics and relationships between heroes. It’s best to leave Control Resonant for the end of the month: this is the strangest and riskiest project of the five, so it may turn out to be the main surprise of September.
