A year ago, Atsu's story was a tale of revenge.Now Sucker Punch returns the heroine to what remained outside the main campaign: life on the mainland, old relationships and the events that shaped her before returning to Ezo.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is now available on PS5 and combines the main campaign, Legends and two major additions - the story-driven Echoes of Sekigahara and the roguelike mode Most Wanted.
The story jumps between two versions of Atsu
Echoes of Sekigahara is divided between the present and memories of the heroine's time on the mainland.In an interview with PlayStation, actress Erika Ishii said that returning to the role was unusual: between recording the main game and the expansion, she managed to play through the finished Ghost of Yōtei herself and get a better feel for the character as a player.
The expansion expands on the personal side of Atsu's story.According to Ishii, while working, she discussed with the authors the possibility of showing the heroine's relationships beyond her revenge - and part of this direction eventually appeared in the new story.
Most Wanted - another reason to come back
The second major part of the Complete Edition is structured differently.Most Wanted relies on repeatable challenges in the roguelike format, so the add-on is designed not for another linear chapter, but for multiple runs.
Complete Edition comes out exactly one year after the original game.This is a rare case where the "complete edition" simultaneously serves as an anniversary and an actual continuation of the main character's story.
