Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave releases September 17th for Nintendo Switch 2, and before release, the developers finally explained in more detail why the new part is so noticeably different from Three Houses.

The action has moved from Fódlan to Dagda, but it's still one world. Moreover, some characters from Three Houses will appear here too.The team deliberately did not want to repeat the school atmosphere of the previous game.

Dagda was made the opposite of Fódlan

The developers describe the new land as a hot and harsh region with sea, deserts, sandstorms and tropical forests.Even the music had to sound different: it introduced flamenco guitar, claps and heavier percussion.

Character designer Chinatsu Kurahana, who worked on Three Houses, is back. But instead of a school uniform, she had to take into account the climate and culture of the different peoples of Dagda.

The stories of four heroes are united by family

Kai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda have different goals, but the authors built their lines around one theme - family. For one hero it’s growing up, for another it’s a surrogate family, for a third it’s responsibility for the people, and for a fourth it’s the loss of home and revenge.

The developers emphasize that there are no characters here that can be reduced to a simple division into “right” and “wrong.”Everyone has their own reason for going into battle.

Joy-Con 2 can be used as a mouse

Fortune's Weave remains a tile-based tactical RPG.At the same time, Nintendo added a new control option for the series: Joy-Con 2 can be used as a mouse.

The team says they didn't want to change the very core of Fire Emblem. The new console has given more options for graphics and interface, but the core remains the player's decisions, the consequences of mistakes and characters who may find themselves on different sides of the conflict.
