The eighth part is the finale of the main walkthrough of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Chapters 22 "Clash at Randaino" and 23 "Path of the Sword" remain. The game gives one last chance to close out the side content, then returns Musashi to the place where the story began and sends him to Xianao Castle for a long final series of fights.

In this part, we don’t save consumables “for later” and don’t put off improvements. After speaking with Takamura, the actual endgame begins, with the final boss testing everything the game taught: long defense, dodging unblockable attacks, deflecting ranged attacks, and properly using Oni Awakening.

Spoilers: Below are the final two chapters, the final boss and what opens after the credits.

Before Randaino: last chance to close the card

After Dokyo, several more side activities appear. If you want to complete the game as cleanly as possible, close Hidden Treasure #5, Arashiyama Archer Challenge, and Restless Spirits. The last guardian lions also become available in Eastern Kyoto.

In Arashiyama, check the remaining lions and activate the Oni glyph at Horin-ji Temple - it opens the entry about Dokyo. This is the last calm walk through large locations until the finale.

Spend all accumulated Power Stones and Oni Stones. If you have consistently collected materials in previous parts, by this point almost all abilities and upgrades are already available.

Chapter 22. "Clash at Randaino"

Return to Takamura. The conversation starts preparations for the final offensive and sends Musashi to Rendaino. The route itself is short: the main objective of the chapter is another meeting with Benkei.

Boss: Benkei - second fight

Re-fight with Benkei
At Randaino, Benkei returns for his second big meeting with Musashi.Still from the walkthrough zLastSaint;game © Capcom.

Benkei's basic set of attacks is familiar from the first meeting. The difference is that he now has additional moves with his hammer and ax throws. At the same time, Musashi himself is much stronger at this point, so there is no need to turn the battle into a long struggle with armor again.

Stay at a medium distance and read the end of the series by weapon.Wide swings are still good for Reflection. If Benkei draws a long-range weapon, do not stand still: one step to the side is safer than trying to catch every flying ax with your defense.

Armament They can now be spent more boldly. After broken stamina, enter into a short powerful series and do not try to finish with another extra blow. After the victory, the final chapter begins.

Chapter 23. "The Way of the Sword": Xianao Castle

After the scene, Musashi finds himself at Xianao Castle.Rokudo-Chinnoji is no longer available as a regular base, so the upgrades for talismans and pouches are being moved to the starting area of the final chapter.Activate the local Spirit Mirror and finalize your equipment.

The castle is divided into several levels. The structure is simple: a short route, a strong enemy or boss returning, then a rise higher.Don't try to save all resources to the top - Spirit Mirrors cost quite often.

First level: Daidara

Go up the main route, destroy the fel barrier and activate "Spiral Staircase 1".At the end of the level, Daidara returns. He gets a jumping attack, but the basis of the fight doesn’t change: break armor and stamina with strong moves, and punish him with a long series of heavy misses.

After winning, use the elevator in the southwest. If Daidara seems more difficult than expected, this is a good signal to check the talismans again - further mistakes are forgiven less.

Second level: cloth and Byakue

On the second level after the first group of Gemma, go into the southern room for some cotton cloth and iron.A little further on, the northeast staircase leads down to a separate chest containing a fine silk cloth.

Before moving on, activate the Mirror of Spirits at the main entrance. In the next room a Rift and Byakue appear.By this point, his slow swings should be easy to read: don't waste hozuki on him, which will come in handy at the top.

Third level: last tamahagane

Fight inside Xianao Castle

Immediately after rising there is a chest with tamahagane. If some improvement is still not completed, this is the last good opportunity to close it before the final episode.

The floor itself is short. At the end two Nue appear.Don't stand between them: take one to the edge, use Oni Weapon control and only then switch to the second. After the fight, go up to the next Mirror.

Fourth level: Big Nue

Late fight at Xianao Castle
Closer to the top of the castle, the game leaves almost no long safe pauses between battles.Still from the walkthrough zLastSaint;game © Capcom.

There is almost no exploration on the fourth floor.Activate the Mirror of Spirits in the hanging corridor and enter the only large room.Big Nue is waiting here.

By this point you already know his rhythm: don't stand directly in front of the head, watch for long body attacks and use the recovery moments for strong techniques. After victory, the elevator goes higher.

Fifth level: last mandatory Rift

On the fifth floor, a Rift appears with two waves of regular Genma and Dohatsu-Ten in the third. This is the last test of a familiar mini-boss.Don't save the blue gauge: if you need to quickly close the phase, use Oni Armament.

After absorbing the Rift, go to the northern elevator. Then only the Fortress remains.

Fortress: The Last Stones of Oni

In the hallway before the final Spirit Mirror is a chest containing two Oni Stones. If you collected everything along our route, they should be enough to unlock the remaining abilities.

Activate Mirror of spirits “Fortress”.There is no point in storing the best healing items here anymore.Place the most useful talismans, restore your hozuki supply and make sure that Awakening Oni and Reflex Combo are on convenient buttons.

Final Boss: Minamoto no Yoshitsune

Yoshitsune has three health bars. This is not a fight you should try to finish with just one successful offensive streak. The first phase is needed to learn the drawing. The game specifically punishes the attempt to respond after the first successful parry: many combinations continue with another hit or two.

First phase: defend longer than you want

If Yoshitsune comes forward with a sword on his shoulders, prepare for a very fast strike.Don't try to interrupt him. When up close, he often finishes a combination with a jumping kick that pushes Mousasi away and creates distance.Learning to dodge this leg is important now - in the second phase it becomes part of one of the best counterattack opportunities.

Of the unblockable attacks, circular cutting is dangerous. If it hits, Yoshitsune can continue to grab, take souls and power up.It is better to lose the opportunity to strike than to give the boss such a transition for free.

Second phase: air strike and explosion

After the first streak, Yoshitsune begins the phase with a powerful ground strike. It needs to be dodged, not blocked.Immediately after this comes a second jump with an explosion. If the Reflex Combo gauge is full, the technique can be used to disrupt the continuation.

The familiar series of swords remain on the ground, but punches are added.A regular direct hit can be waited out by dodging - if it misses, the chain usually ends. The wide kick is faster and requires an earlier reaction.

The best window - air series

When Yoshitsune hovers in the air with his sword in front of him, prepare for two slashes, followed almost always by a jumping kick.Block the two swords, dodge the leg and use the window that opens. This is one of the most consistent ways to build up Reflex and remove stamina without risk.

Later the boss starts shooting. The first volleys fan out, then three tracking waves appear.Arrows can be reflected back.Don't chase Yoshitsune across the hall - sometimes it's safer to turn his ranged attack into your own damage.

Third bar: damage only in Oni Awakening

In the last lane, regular strikes no longer decide the battle. You need to deal full damage in They Awaken.Fill the gauge with souls from Issen and don't turn on the form too early if the boss is about to go into a long defensive sequence.

The main threat is the final ultimate. As Yoshitsune begins to absorb souls, he prepares his final attack. It can be survived by normal defense and movement, but the best answer is Onimusha Onslaught during the Awakening. The technique interrupts the ultimate and launches a special powerful animation.

If you've made it to the third lane with some healing left and understand the air sequence, the hardest part is over.Take your time: one accurate window is better than three risky attempts to hit between his attacks.

After the finale: what happens to saving

After victory and the credits roll, the game takes you back to the beginning of the Encounter at Randaino chapter. This allows you to clear the map and open the last chest in Kyoto with an entry about Yoshitsune. That is, completing the story does not lock the current save.

Also opens New Game+ and the opportunity to start a new playthrough on Carnage Mode. Some progress carries over, so the second playthrough can be built around a full set of combat systems, rather than re-collecting the most basic things.

The main campaign is complete

Previous part:Ifuu and Burai, Arashiyama, Ganryu and Dokyo.

This concludes the main storyline of Onimusha: Way of the Sword.Eight parts cover all 23 chapters - from the first battles in Rendaino to the castle of Xianao and the final duel with Yoshitsune.

If after the credits you want to close everything 100%, you can separately analyze New Game+, Carnage Mode, missed side quests and final collectibles - without repeating the main walkthrough.
