Warcraft III: Reforged's big update brought a new campaign and graphical improvements, but with them came a controversial change. The modern client now requires a constant Internet connection.

The LAN mode from Reforged was also removed.Blizzard has left a workaround: the classic Warcraft III client still supports LAN and offline.

Reforged is now connection dependent

In the notes for version 3.0, Blizzard explicitly states that the Reforged client must be online at all times. For a single-player campaign, this looks especially strange: Warcraft III previously existed quite normally without a connection.

The situation is similar with LAN.The new client no longer has the mode, but the Classic Client retains it.That is, the function has not completely disappeared from Warcraft III, but you will have to run the old version to use it.

The patch itself is very large

The update increased the maximum allocation group size from 12 to 24 units, added new servers, improved the editor and brought Definitive Edition graphics.Came out with the patch Forsaken Kingdom, the first new official Warcraft III campaign in more than two decades.

This is why network restrictions are so noticeable. The game received one of the most meaningful updates in recent years, but at the same time the modern client has become less autonomous.
