Iron Gate has released patch 1.0.14 for Valheim following the release of version 1.0.The update finally allows for a dedicated dodge button, expands control remapping, adds a toggle block, and fixes a bug where diagonal stick movement was approximately 30% slower.
Management has become more flexible
An alternative dodge button has appeared on the keyboard, you can reassign the cells of the quick access panel and the radial menu, and unnecessary bindings can be completely removed. An accessibility setting has been added for blocking: now it can be switched by pressing instead of constantly holding the button.
There is also an option to skip the introductory video at startup. These are small changes individually, but after five years of Early Access, these are the details that are most noticeable to regular players.
Fixed diagonal on the gamepad
Iron Gate discovered a stick pre-processing bug: input was leaning too heavily towards the horizontal and vertical axes, and diagonal movement was about 30% slower. This has been fixed in 1.0.14.
The patch also changes several bindings on the gamepad and adjusts the direction of the character when attacking with the option to hit in the direction of the gaze turned on.
There are optimizations and fixes for false cheaters
The developers have reduced the extra load on the GPU in a number of cases and corrected the heightmap shadows.Separately, a situation has been fixed where a regular player or the loot they received could erroneously receive a mark of cheating origin.
Version 1.0 introduced a more formal separation between normal playthroughs and using devcommands due to the achievement system, so false tags proved to be a particularly nasty new bug.
The patch does not arrive on platforms at the same time
Iron Gate warns that due to internal limitations, 1.0.14 will take several days to reach all platforms. At the same time, the developers directly promise to maintain cross-play during the phased rollout.
Valheim 1.0 was released on September 9 on PC and modern consoles, ending its multi-year early access. Now the team is quickly closing problems that have already appeared to a wide audience.
