Exophase suddenly indexed the achievements of hundreds, and possibly thousands of games on Steam. Most of them are still in development, so the achievement lists should not have been made public.Among the discovered projects are Kingdom Hearts 4, Persona 6, Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, Final Fantasy Resonance and other major releases.

How private achievements became available
Exophase tracks achievements on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and other services.Typically, achievements for games that are still in development are hidden and are not included in Exophase.Exophase owner Mike Bendel believes that the problem arose on the Valve API side: restrictions on access to private achievements temporarily stopped working, after which the service automatically added the found entries to its database.
Valve has not yet publicly explained why private achievements were made available through the API.

What is already known from the lists of achievements
For already announced games, the leak shows that their achievements have already been uploaded to Steam. But from such data it is impossible to determine the exact stage of development or release date. Some lists look incomplete: they contain stubs and incomplete localization.
Some achievements contain major story spoilers. For example, the Kingdom Hearts 4 listing reveals the locations of several Disney worlds. We deliberately do not provide this information.

Games without an official announcement do not guarantee release
The list also contains entries that cannot yet be associated with official announcements.Users found mentions of a possible port of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, a Nickelodeon game in the spirit of Animal Crossing, a new Tetris, and a collection of The Walking Dead from Telltale. One of the test recordings contains a reference to Twin Peaks.
But having an App ID or even a list of achievements does not mean that such a game will definitely come out. This could be an old prototype, an internal test, or a canceled project. This is why unknown leaked recordings cannot be considered full-fledged announcements.

The main danger of a leak is spoilers
The titles of future games quickly attract attention, but the content of the achievements themselves is much more unpleasant. They can reveal locations, plot events and other details long before release.Once such data gets into open databases and discussions, it is almost impossible to completely remove it from the network.
Therefore, the list should be treated with caution.Already announced games actually have achievement records found on Steam, while unknown projects so far remain only traces in the service’s internal data.
Do you think Valve should completely close game achievements before the official release?
