The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association has canceled the fifth and final day of Tokyo Game Show 2026, which was scheduled to take place on September 21 at Makuhari Messe. The reason is the approach of Typhoon No. 25: the organizers expect strong winds and rainfall, as well as possible disruptions in public transport.
On September 20, the exhibition runs as scheduled, but Monday is completely cancelled. CESA explained the decision by the safety of visitors, participants, staff and the need to enable people to get home safely.
The five-day anniversary will end in four days
The Tokyo Game Show celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026 and was scheduled to run for five days for the first time. Due to weather, the anniversary experiment was actually shortened to four days.
Tickets for September 21st are refundable. The organizers will separately communicate the procedure for different sales platforms. They may try to save some of the stage programs as online broadcasts, if conditions allow.

For game announcements, the consequences are limited
Most of the largest publisher broadcasts took place in the first days of the exhibition. In particular, Xbox held its own TGS broadcast on September 17, so the cancellation will primarily affect visitors to the stands and the program of the last day.
Organizers advise participants on September 20 to monitor the weather and transport: individual activities may change for safety reasons.
