Stronghold 4 has received a new trailer with an emphasis on fortress building and large battles. Firefly Studios is bringing back the numbered series 15 years after Stronghold 3 and making sieges the centerpiece of the new game.

The developers announced seven computer opponents in one battle and 14 battlefields. It's not just the terrain that's meant to differentiate the maps: the trailer shows fortresses made of wood and stone, from compact fortifications to complex multi-level castles.

What was shown in the new trailer

Special emphasis is placed on the eight enemy lords. Each has its own personality and visual identity, and the differences should be reflected in how they build defenses and wage war.

This is fundamental for Stronghold: the series has always combined settlement economics with sieges. The player needs not just to place walls, but to ensure production, population and army, and then withstand an attack or dismantle someone else’s fortress himself.

The new show took place at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct after the main TGS program. About completion Tokyo Game Show 2026 a day early we talked about it separately.

Release date still unchanged

The exact release date has not yet been announced. Firefly still lists 2026, and Steam allows you to wishlist the game. The studio has not yet published detailed system requirements and the final set of modes.

The trailer is useful primarily for its specificity in scale: 14 battlefields, up to seven AI opponents and eight types of lords. This already makes it clear that Stronghold 4 is designed not only for story missions, but also for repeatable battles under different conditions.
