On Sunday, October 11, Steam surpassed 43.5 million concurrent users. This is a new record for the Valve service: the official statistics page recorded a peak of 43,501,449 people.

43.5 million on Steam - but not everyone launched the games

The figure reflects the number of users who were on Steam at the same time.It does not mean that each of them was playing at that moment: some people could browse the store, chat with friends, or use other client features. Therefore, the online service record cannot be directly compared with the number of players in a particular game.

Independent service SteamDB reported a slightly higher peak of 43,505,724 users. The difference between the two indicators is 4,275 people and does not change the main thing: the Steam audience for the first time exceeded 43.5 million simultaneously connected users.

Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 remain among the leaders

On Valve's game statistics page, Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 continue to occupy the top positions in terms of the number of active players. However, the new record cannot be attributed to any one game: we are talking about the total activity of users of the entire platform.

Where to check Steam statistics yourself

Valve publishes service and game metrics on official Steam Stats page. There you can see the current audience, the peak for the last 48 hours and the most popular games.Data changes throughout the day, so the current online may be noticeably lower than the record one.

The October 11 record shows the scale of the PC platform's audience, but in itself says nothing about game sales or the number of paying users.
