Valve has finally announced the price of the Steam Frame.A standalone VR headset with the ability to stream from a PC will cost $1059 (≈ 89,500 rubles) for the 256 GB version and $1299 (≈ 109,800 rubles) for 1 TB.In Europe, prices are €1049 (≈ 101,800 rubles) and €1279 (≈ 124,100 rubles), respectively.
The first devices cannot simply be thrown into the basket.Until September 17, 20:00 Moscow time, users can sign up for the selected model.Once registration closes, Valve will randomly determine who gets a spot first and who ends up on the waitlist.

The first letters for purchase will arrive on September 18
After the draw, participants will receive a letter with the result.Valve plans to send the first wave of invitations to purchase on September 18, and then new letters will come as devices become available.
The company has already used this scheme for other Steam hardware.Valve explains it as a fight against resellers and an attempt to make the distribution of limited stock more predictable.
The power supply will have to be taken into account separately
There is no AC adapter in the box.A regular 45 W USB-C charger will do, and Valve sells the proprietary unit separately for $29 (≈ 2,450 rubles).A set of belts and additional pads costs $49 (≈ 4,140 rubles).
The headset itself includes VR controllers.Among the games, Valve separately promotes Half-Life: Alyx, and for standalone launch it uses its own library of compatible projects.

The price is noticeably higher than mass-produced VR headsets
$1059 (≈ 89,500 rubles) takes the Steam Frame out of the category of affordable standalone headsets.Valve is betting on Steam users who need one headset both for running games on their own and for home PCVR.
The first real deliveries will show how this set of capabilities justifies the price. For now, the main practical deadline is simple: those who want to get into the first draw need to register before September 17.
