Ubisoft and Evil Empire have released a free Anniversary Update for The Rogue Prince of Persia. The update adds an element of ice, new combat arenas, weapons and tools, and at the same time seriously adjusts the difficulty and pace of the races.

Freeze works like a full-fledged elemental mechanic: two accumulated effects freeze the enemy, a kick instantly breaks the ice, and enemies in the water immediately receive a double charge. This creates new connections with the environment, rather than just another type of damage.

The beginning became softer, the ending became more difficult

Evil Empire shortened the Zagros and Aqueduct sections to reduce repetitive runs, and added mandatory wallrun sections for movement training. Wall running itself now fills the Vayu gauge, meaning moving correctly directly helps in combat.

The final boss Nogai has been reworked, enemy density has changed, and critical builds have been weakened. In return, weapons now receive up to four affix slots, which can be re-rolled in Astara's store.

Separate arenas have appeared

The new Suspicious Chest turns individual rooms into compact combat challenges. There is also a race statistics screen and additional rewards from elite opponents.

The update is already available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. This is a free patch, so you can return to the game without purchasing a separate add-on.
