Rockstar employees will vote on whether to recognize the IWGB Rockstar Game Workers Union.Voting runs from November 12 to November 26, 2026, and the release of GTA 6 on consoles is scheduled for November 19, so the decision will come on the hottest days of release. This was reported by PC Gamer.
What we know about voting
If the union gains recognition, it will become the largest union in the UK gaming industry. The publication does not specify how many people have the right to vote.Rockstar itself has not publicly commented on the vote.
Publishing head Jennifer Kolbe, in a conversation with Bloomberg, made it clear that the studio would not resist: “We go where the team goes.If they want a union, they will have a union.”
Layoffs last year
Tensions between the parties began in October 2025, when Rockstar fired 31 employees. The IWGB called it the most brazen case of union-busting in the history of the games industry. The studio explained that those fired shared information about GTA 6 in a public Discord. The dispute is being heard by an employment tribunal in Scotland.
The publication does not name the release date for GTA 6 on PC, so we are only talking about the console release on November 19.
