Quake Champions is changing its business model nine years after the start of Early Access.Bethesda is removing free-to-play, microtransactions and a battle pass: the arena shooter will be sold to new players for $10 (≈ 850 rubles), and existing users will retain access without additional payment.
What's missing from the game?
The update removes the store, Platinum and Shards, loot boxes, daily rewards, weekly challenges and the Battle Pass.Almost all cosmetic content and all regular champions are made available to game owners through the customization menu.
Platinum purchases made in the last 60 days should be returned within a week;Japan has a longer window due to local requirements.Progress, statistics and items already received are saved.

Microsoft Store is closing for Quake Champions
At the same time, distribution of the Microsoft Store version will cease.Players who have used it and linked Bethesda.net to Steam will be able to gain Steam access. For those who have not yet linked their accounts, the transfer is available until October 7, 2026.
This is not the first new material on the classic series: we previously wrote about Quake: Dawn of the Machine is out: a new campaign for the classic shooter. In the case of Champions, the change is especially noticeable - the game is essentially moving back from a service model to a regular purchase.
What remains
The shooter itself does not close.id Software retains online modes, ranked rewards, and an updated customization system.Bethesda did not connect the change in model with the future of the entire series and did not announce a new Quake against this background.
