Polyarc, the studio behind Moss and Moss: Book II, is ending its work after nearly 12 years. In a farewell message, the team wrote that active development was winding down, and employees were leaving for new projects.
For a small VR studio, this is a particularly significant closure. The first Moss was one of the games that showed that virtual reality didn't have to be just a first-person view: the player watched Quill from the outside and interacted with the environment at the same time.

The problems started earlier
Polyarc already made major cuts in the spring. Then the studio reported that it could not secure financing after the cancellation of a large project and was forced to reduce the team.
Now the wording is final: active development is stopped, and the studio is helping employees look for new jobs.Polyarc has not announced any public plans to transfer current projects to another team.
Moss remains the studio's main legacy
Polyarc worked primarily in VR and released two Moss titles, and later experimented with other formats. What will happen to Moss's intellectual property itself remains unknown.
Closing a studio doesn't automatically mean that the rights disappear or that the series will never return. But there will be no new projects from the former Polyarc team.
