In the second part of the walkthrough of Phantom Blade Zero from the S-GAME studio, we analyze the outpost in the Weeping Creek Valley: what tasks to take, what the forge gives, and how to defeat the boss Peng Meng, the Ax Master.
Outpost and mission Against the Flow
You arrived at the outpost after the fight with Jagged Steel.First, go around all the huts and talk to the inhabitants. The story quest Against the Flow will appear in the journal; it leads through the entire chapter to the next main goal.

The old archer on the roof gives out the quest Purge the Sect. The Petrified Mandate Disciple moves forward a chain of Four Fierce Axes, so talk to him too. These conversations reveal places where rewards later lie.
The old beggar and the clue about the key
An old beggar (Old Beggar) sits on the ground among the boxes. He speaks in riddles: about the Black Tower, about deep Sha-Chi and about the iron key that opens two furnaces. This is a hint: the required key lies at the outpost, and it opens the locked door.Remember the location and return to it after the fight.

Forge Forge and new weapons
The Forge blacksmith stands at the forge.Ask her where to get a new weapon. She explains that one of the sisters makes blades, and the middle one, Myst, draws hidden power from weapons using Phantom Arts from Discordance.

Listen to the explanation to the end, there the game shows how to improve weapons.Grab Sanguine Reach and pick up materials like Twinned Metal. To improve dual weapons, they are needed.

Two guards at the outpost give the quest Festering Secret. It sends you to a courtyard sealed with chains. The door to the left of the gate is locked; you can open it with the Cell Key, which lies on the stairs opposite the boss arena.A Blackstone Fragment awaits inside.
Boss Peng Meng, Ax Master
Peng Meng (the Axemaster) appears before the start of the fight in a short scene. This is a huge Mask Bearer with a giant axe. Before the battle, save at the bell at the outpost: if you lose, you will return to it.

The boss's weak point is Bleed.Equip the Jagged Steel weapon that you got in the first part, and after the enemy loses balance, use Jagged Steel Rampage.Stay close to the boss and block his attacks: at a long distance he uses sweeping attacks more often.

Remember three dangerous boss moves:
- After the Battle Cry, Peng Meng grabs the hero. This is a Killer Move, you need to roll away from it.
- After a series of upward blows comes a finishing blow. The series can be different: two punches up, a kick and a throw with the shoulder, or dragging along the ground, swinging overhead and punching up.Parry the finishing blow.
- When the boss places the ax on his shoulder with both hands and a blue glow flashes, parry the circular strike. This starts Ghost Step.

Reward for victory: Dread Ax and Guardian Idol Fragment: Arm.Dread Ax breaks shields and chain barriers, so keep it handy.
Return to the outpost
After the battle, the goal for the Festering Secret quest appears in the journal: to explore the courtyard sealed with chains at the outpost.Return to the bell at the outpost, approach the chain barrier and destroy it with the Dread Ax.

Go up the stairs on the left. There's a Sha-Chi Amber Fragment and two Darkfire Charcoals there, so don't pass by.
Ewer and the Apprentice Healer quest
Yu'er is waiting for you at the outpost. She says that she was left alone in the valley, got scared and followed the road here.Talk to her and choose the option about collecting herbs: this will give you the Medicinal Herb Recipe and the Apprentice Healer quest.

In the next part, we will quickly move to the bell of The Axemaster's Fall, destroy another chain barrier and watch the scene with The Hunt.Next we will get a letter from Captain Wu, reforging talismans and the completion of the quest Against the Flow, after which the main quest Steel and Steam begins.
