Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 was released on August 27 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The main reason to pay attention to the collection is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The 2008 game left the PlayStation 3 for the first time and became available on modern platforms.

The second major participant in the collection is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in the HD Collection version. As a bonus, Konami added Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, the MGS4 database, scripts, reference books and a digital soundtrack.

MGS4 is no longer locked on PlayStation 3

This is the main release event for the series.Guns of the Patriots came out in 2008 and remained confined to one console for a long time. Now the final story of Solid Snake is available on current hardware along with additional materials.

Konami also included the MGS4 Database. It contains information about the events, characters and terms of the series. For a game that constantly references previous Metal Gear titles, this base is more useful than the usual bonus gallery.

Peace Walker retained the co-op

Peace Walker is based on the HD version and supports online.Co-op missions can take up to four players, and Versus Ops has a maximum of six players. There is no crossplay between platforms.

At launch, Konami added image settings. You can leave the graphics close to the original HD Edition or choose a mode with higher internal resolution. On a PC, manual configuration of individual parameters is available.

Ghost Babel is not just an extra item on the menu

Metal Gear: Ghost Babel appeared on Game Boy Color and develops its own story branch. In Master Collection Vol.2 it is included as a bonus, but for fans of the series this is a rare opportunity to play portable Metal Gear on a modern device without old hardware.

Along with the games, the collection offers scenarios for MGS4 and Peace Walker, a Master Book for both parts, and a Digital Soundtrack Vol.2. The result was not just a couple of ports, but an archive of the late period of classic Metal Gear.

The second collection closes the most noticeable gap

The first Master Collection collected early Metal Gear and the first three serialized Metal Gear Solid. In the second, Konami got to the game that was the most difficult to legally run on a modern system.

It's MGS4 that makes Vol.2 is important even for those who have already completed Peace Walker. Now much of the Solid Snake and Big Boss story is available on current consoles and PCs without the need to keep a PlayStation 3 nearby.
