Proto Man will officially become the second playable hero of Mega Man: Dual Override.Capcom is not making it an alternative skin for Mega Man: the character will have his own fighting style, a separate progression system, and a different set of rewards for defeating bosses.

Proto Man is designed for close range
While Mega Man is more comfortable keeping his opponent at a distance, Proto Man reveals himself up close. His Proto Buster is especially strong at short range, and his Proto Shield is used not only for defense, but also as part of offensive combos.
Aggression comes at the cost of overheating.Frequent use of strong moves increases the temperature, so the player needs to alternate between pressure and short pauses, rather than simply repeating the most advantageous blow.
Defeating bosses gives different rewards
Mega Man still gains Robot Masters abilities.Proto Man instead unlocks Shield Actions - new actions for the shield. This is one way to make the two campaigns noticeably different at the progression level.
Additionally, Dual Override will have more than 50 Custom Chips with active and passive effects. They can be combined for damage, survival or other tasks.
Override - a strong mode with consequences
Both heroes are able to briefly go beyond their normal capabilities through the Override system. After the power-up ends, the character becomes more vulnerable, so the moment of activation is more important than the button itself.
We have already told How Capcom is bringing back Mega Man after a long hiatus.Dual Override will be released in spring 2027.
