There are just over two weeks left until the release of Marvel's Wolverine. And only now Insomniac has collected in one show almost all the systems that will make up the game.
This is no longer just a demonstration of brutal finishing moves. The developers showed leveling up, costumes, different types of claws, side activities, New Game Plus and settings that allow you to reduce the amount of blood.
The main takeaway is simple: Wolverine isn't really trying to be Spider-Man with another hero.Insomniac builds the game around constant pressure and close combat, where Logan must move forward.

The fight is based on aggression
Insomniac describes the combat system as fast, fluid and ferocious. The player is asked to close the distance, use claws, kicks, series of attacks and critical techniques.
This is important for the character himself.Wolverine does not look like a hero who should stand on the sidelines for a long time and carefully shoot his enemies.
Recent previews confirm the same approach. The game encourages aggressive behavior and tries to make the moment of entering a crowd of opponents part of the main rhythm.
Rage is not just beautiful animation
In battle, Logan accumulates rage. The Rage system enhances it and opens up more dangerous attack options.
In addition to the usual techniques, there are Adaptations - individual improvements designed through the ability development system. The player gradually strengthens Logan and adjusts the set of techniques to suit his style.
This approach goes well with character regeneration.Wolverine can take risks that would otherwise be considered mistakes, but aggression still shouldn't translate into immortality.

Claws can also be changed
Insomniac has added several claw options. These include bone, serrated, curved, reflective and angular versions.
It's not just cosmetics.New claws are tied to character progression and customization, and costumes can provide health upgrades.
A separate little detail perfectly shows the studio’s attitude towards the hero: outside of combat, the claws can be released manually by pressing L2 and R2.Mechanically, this doesn't change much, but for a Wolverine game it seems like a must-have feature.
There will be many costumes
The game features the original Battle Reborn, created by Insomniac, and images from different periods of the character's history. The developers mention Weapon X, Old Man Logan, Ultimate Wolverine and Patch.
There are also more conventional options like a T-shirt or leather jacket. On parts of the costumes, you can separately enable or disable masks and head elements.
Insomniac has already made huge sets of costumes in Spider-Man, so a similar system here looks expected. The difference is that clothing and claws are now more strongly tied to character progression.

The world won't be empty between fights
On the way between story episodes, you can deviate from the main route.Logan uses his senses to find additional activities and hidden objects.
Nightmare Doors lead to combat and traversal challenges.Collectible whiskey bottles unlock Logan's forgotten memories, and crates of materials are used to create costumes.
Here, Insomniac again uses the Spider-Man experience, but tries to make the collectible activities part of the hero himself.Whiskey, lost memories, and costumes are at least thematically tied to Wolverine rather than appearing as generic map icons.
Omega Red and Deathstrike already confirmed
A new PlayStation post mentions Omega Red and Deathstrike again. They will be part of a story that features Logan and Jean Gray alongside the members of Team X.
The plot revolves around the danger to mutants and a conflict that cannot be resolved only by personal revenge.Insomniac emphasizes that there are too few mutants in this world to have safe havens and large, organized teams.
This is noticeably different from the usual state of the X-Men universe.Wolverine here must work in a world where the very survival of mutants becomes part of the conflict.

New Game Plus will be at launch
After completion, New Game Plus will open with additional techniques and increased development limits.Mission Replay and individual Nightmare Challenges with results tables are also announced.
Photo Mode will arrive with the Day 1 update. For a large single-player game, this is a good set of modes to start with, especially if the campaign itself is not too long.
Insomniac has also prepared over a hundred accessibility features. These include high contrast, English audio description, changes in overall game speed, and enhanced haptic cues.
Cruelty can be reduced
Marvel's Wolverine is initially made noticeably bloodier than Spider-Man.Severed limbs, blood and coarse language are not hidden behind editing.
But the player will be able to customize these elements separately. The menu will include options for dynamic blood, dismemberment, and an English profanity filter.
This does not turn the game into a family version of Wolverine, but it does give a choice to those who are more interested in the action itself than the most detailed finishing moves.
September 15 will be the main test
After years of anticipation, Marvel's Wolverine finally looks like a finished game rather than just a bunch of promises.Enough systems have already been shown to understand its structure.
The main question now is not the number of costumes or side challenges. It's important whether aggressive combat can remain interesting throughout the campaign and whether spectacular finishing moves will turn into repetitive animation.
Marvel's Wolverine will be released on September 15, 2026 only on PlayStation 5. Pre-orders are now open.
Insomniac is increasingly showing Wolverine as the opposite of Spider-Man: less acrobatics and distance, more weight, risk and outright aggression.
Do you think Wolverine needs a big open world or is this game better served as a tighter, linear action game?
