Taito brings back two classic JRPGs from the Lufia series in one collection - Lufia I & II: The Sinistrals Saga. The set will include Lufia & the Fortress of Doom and its prequel Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals.

This is a significant return for the series: both games appeared in the era of 16-bit consoles, and now will receive an official release on PC for the first time. The collection is also announced for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, release is scheduled for 2027.

What will be included in the collection

Taito has not yet announced the exact date and price. From what is shown, the main thing is clear: we are talking about a joint re-release of two main parts, and not about a new game or a complete remake with modern graphics.

The first Lufia was built around the campaign of a group of heroes against the Sinistrals, and the second told the events preceding the original. Lufia II is particularly memorable for its puzzle dungeons and Ancient Cave system.

The announcement came at the end of the Tokyo Game Show week. We wrote separately about early completion of TGS 2026 due to typhoon; The PC Gaming Show managed to take place online and brought several more premieres.

What hasn't been told yet

A page for the collection has already appeared on Steam, so the PC version is confirmed not only by the trailer. Language support, additional features, quick saves and possible improvements to the originals have not yet been revealed.

There are at least a few months left before release. Taito has yet to explain how deeply the remastered versions of the two games are and whether they will maintain the original balance. For now, Lufia I & II: The Sinistrals Saga looks primarily like an official way to bring back the two JRPGs and release them on PC for the first time.
