God of War Laufey: Faye's story, which runs parallel to past games in the series

Laufey is the real name of Faye, the wife of Kratos and the mother of Atreus.After the funeral pyre at the beginning of 2018's God of War, Faye unexpectedly awakens in an unfamiliar world, Everywhen.As Kratos and Atreus continue their journey, she must figure out why the plans she left behind to protect her family were in jeopardy.

Sony describes the plot this way: Death was supposed to be the end, but Faye finds that the plans she had previously prepared to protect Kratos and Atreus are in jeopardy.To save her family, she will have to go through the afterlife of the gods.

Eternity: the afterlife of the gods

This is the place where all magic is born and returns.Here gods and creatures from different mythologies collide, and they do not always coexist peacefully.The studio formulates the main question of the game directly: what happens to the gods when they die.

There is a connection here with Ragnarök: Odin in that game was obsessed with the prophecy of his own doom and sought knowledge of what lies beyond the mortal afterlife.Laufey offers an answer to this question.

Faye and her companions

Faye is again voiced by Deborah Ann Woll, who also played her in Ragnarök.Soon after waking up, the heroine meets two companions.One of them is called Phranque (in Russian-language sources Frank), this is a curious cosmic cube, voiced by Jack Quaid.

Bow, fists and giant magic

The studio promises to combine the fluidity of movement from the ancient era of the series with the expansive worlds and intimate relationships between characters from the Norse.Fay knows how to fight hand-to-hand and uses the magic that giants are endowed with.

Laufey in Scandinavian myths

In Scandinavian lore, Laufey is known primarily as Loki's mother.Loki Laufeyarson's name is also derived from his mother's name, an unusual detail often noted when discussing this character.

Before release, it's worth remembering past games

If you want to go into history without gaps, remember or catch up with 2018's God of War and Ragnarök: Laufey is directly based on their events.But it is not necessary to get acquainted with the ancient part of the series; this whole story lives in the Norwegian era.This is our opinion and not official advice from the studio.
