Gears of War: E-Day has officially gone gold: the main version is ready for release on October 6th.At the same time, The Coalition revealed the PC system requirements - and they have an unusual condition: you need a video card with hardware support for ray tracing.
Even the minimum is designed for 60 frames
The minimum configuration is aimed at 1080p and 60 FPS with upscaling and medium settings. The GPU list includes GeForce RTX 2060/5050 and Radeon RX 6600/9060, Ryzen 5 2600X or Core i7-8700K processors, 16 GB of RAM and 6 GB of video memory.
For 1440p and 60+ FPS, RTX 3060 Ti/5060 or RX 6700 XT/9060 XT are recommended. The Ultra Profile for 4K targets the RTX 5070 Ti or RX 7900 XT.In all cases you will need an SSD and approx. 115 GB.
Old GPUs without RT are not officially supported
The Coalition explicitly warns: hardware ray tracing is required. The game uses RT reflections, shadows and global illumination, and also supports DLSS 4.5, FSR 4 and XeSS 3.0.
This significantly increases the lower limit for iron even at moderate resolution. We have previously talked about beta E-Day and Horde Siege.
Preload starts on September 29
Pre-download will open on September 29th.Owners of the Premium Edition will be able to start on October 1st, and the worldwide release will take place October 6, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.The game will also be available on Game Pass on launch day.
The requirement for RT hardware makes E-Day one of the notable examples of major PC releases moving to a more modern GPU base set.It is important for owners of old cards to check the tracing support, and not just the amount of video memory.
