Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released on April 8, 2027.Square Enix calls the game the final part of the remake trilogy and promises the largest world in the entire Remake series.

The new show is important not only because of its date. The developers explained how Highwind, FITS classes and instant hero switching should link exploration with combat.Revelation tries to solve the main question of the ending: how to preserve the setting of the previous games and at the same time give the player more freedom.

The main thing: Highwind will allow you to choose your flight direction and land in different regions.Four FITS classes will appear in battle, and some tasks can be completed by a selected group member.

Highwind turns a map into a route

In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the world consisted of large areas connected by story.Revelation ups the scale: the party gains Highwind and can navigate the planet from the air.The player selects a landing point and descends into cities, biomes, and remote locations.

This changes the very feeling of travel. The map ceases to be a list of regions between which the hero is transferred through the menu.Highwind should connect them into a single space and show how far the disaster has gone.

Chocobo Pico also becomes a full-fledged participant in the journey. It serves as transport, helps in battle and gains new abilities along with the group. For cities, a hook has been added, with which you can quickly climb to the roofs and change the route.

FITS adds new roles to heroes

The new Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear system is called FITS for short. It includes four specializations: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner. Each costume changes the character's moveset, abilities, and appearance.

The main thing here is not the classes themselves, but their combination with the usual matter, weapons and synergies. One hero has several different roles. In the video, for example, Sid uses Knight, and Vincent uses Summoner.

You can now switch between group members while exploring.Previously, the composition of the detachment was often determined in advance. In Revelation, the developers want to give more control and quickly transfer attention from one hero to another.

Character choices affect individual scenes

Some tasks will be allowed to be given to a selected group member.Square Enix says this will affect events and in-game situations. It is not yet clear how far the consequences will go, so it is too early to consider Revelation a full-fledged non-linear RPG.

But for the remake trilogy, even local changes are important. Its strength has always been in the relationships between the characters. If a character's choice changes dialogue, the route, or the outcome of a side story, repeat playthroughs make sense.

Queen's Blood returns with a different story

The card game Queen's Blood will receive a new storyline around Red XIII.The developers promise opponents who can significantly change the course of the game, and additional rules for experienced players.

This is a good example of how Revelation expands on an already working idea instead of replacing it.Queen's Blood was one of Rebirth's most cohesive side systems. The minigame now gets its own story rather than just a new set of cards.

Editions and story additions

Pre-orders are already open. The Premium Edition includes 24 hours early access and a Story Expansion Pass with two story expansions.Square Enix hasn't revealed them in detail yet.The official store states that one is related to Sephiroth, the second is related to Vincent and the Turks.

This is the controversial part of the announcement. The final chapter already wraps up a larger story, so important story episodes outside of the main game may raise questions. It will be possible to evaluate the solution only after the publisher explains the scope of the additions.

Why the show looks convincing

Revelation doesn't try to abandon the core of Remake and Rebirth. It expands on what was already working: active combat with teams, relationships within the group and large story scenes.

Highwind gives the finale just the right amount of scale.FITS adds customization without giving up matter. And the free change of heroes and choice of task participants help make better use of a large cast.If these systems don't disrupt the pace of the story, the third installment could be the most cohesive of the trilogy.

Which change is more important to you: free flights on Highwind or FITS classes?
