Factorio received update 2.1: it will be the last major one

Wube Software has released version 2.1 for Factorio and called it the last major update to the game.After several months of testing, the patch got into the stable branch, and then the developers promise only bug fixes and small technical updates.The authors themselves describe it as "a large set of usability improvements, small features, polish and things we wanted to do for 2.0, but didn't have time."

Main changes in version 2.1

The update includes more than 30 improvements for the main game and the Space Age expansion.The main one: rockets can now transport several different objects in one launch.Orbital platforms have learned to transfer objects to each other, and the damage from asteroids now depends on their remaining health, and not on their speed, so it has become more predictable.

Landmines can be used as tripwires and enemy detection sensors.Trestle rails were allowed to be built over cargo bays, and the assembly machines, oil refinery, missile silo and heat exchanger had new models.The game also now runs on Linux with ARM64 architecture without layers.

Old saves and quality system

Space Age owners can play without the quality system: the recycler was moved to a separate mod, but the Quality mod itself remained recommended and enabled by default.Saves from version 2.0 are loaded into 2.1, but some of the changes may break the old schemes.For example, inputs and outputs have been separated in logic circuits, so some factories will have to be adjusted manually.

Game without discounts and studio plans

Factorio entered early access in 2016, and in 2024 it received version 2.0 and the Space Age expansion.The game has more than 234 thousand positive reviews on Steam: this is 98% and the rating is “extremely positive”.All this without a single discount, because Wube basically does not sell out Factorio, and in 2023 even raised the price due to inflation.On Russian Steam the game is sold for 1200 rubles, there is a Russian language.
