Funcom is preparing the biggest overhaul of Dune: Awakening since its PC release. On September 22, the game will receive a full-fledged single-player mode, difficulty settings and the final part of the first story book - on the same day, survival will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The main change is the ability to go through Arrakis without the pressure of a general MMO environment. The single-player version retains the building, desert exploration, resource extraction and story, but allows you to customize the pace and difficulty to suit your needs.
Single player mode - not just a private server
Funcom describes the mode as a separate way to play through the entire available story and survival systems. The player gains control over the complexity and a number of parameters of the world, so Dune: Awakening becomes closer to a traditional survival-RPG for those who were put off by the MMO component.
At the same time, the network mode does not disappear anywhere. This is an additional option and not a replacement for the existing structure. The console launch will also expand the project's audience more than a year after its original release on PC.

The story of the first book will have an ending
Along with the update, Funcom is adding the final part of Book One.For players who have been holding off on the story until a more standalone format emerged, this is a convenient entry point: the main arc will be available in its entirety.
Dune: Awakening is also included in second September wave of Xbox Game Pass. Therefore, September 22 will simultaneously be a console relaunch for the project, a major content update, and an attempt to attract an audience that does not need a constant PvP or MMO rhythm.
