Funcom is preparing a free Blood and Ice expansion for Dune: Awakening. It will be released on December 1 and will take players from the hot sands of Arrakis to the frozen north of the planet.
The main novelty of the add-on, the Polar Sink map, turns the usual logic of survival upside down.Previously, in the game you had to hide from the heat, but now you have to look for warmth, and at the same time develop technologies that will help you adapt to extreme cold. The map consists of two biomes, tundra and ice cap.The ice cap is harsher, and both zones are closely guarded by the "water merchants", wealthy carriers who bring Arrakis's second most valuable resource from the poles down to the deserts.

The players' task in the expansion is to break the water merchants' monopoly on ice.Mined ice can be used to cool basic equipment in the desert and speed up resource production.According to Funcom, the expansion adds "about 35 hours of new progression" and returns the focus to ground-level survival, with movement, temperature management, and combat equally important to progression.
Along with Blood and Ice, a cosmetics store will appear in the game.Additionally, the studio is working on several long-requested features. An offline mode for one player will be released in November (you can currently play alone, but only with an Internet connection), and full cross-play is promised in January.Funcom calls the expansion the next step in the game's development and says it will continue to expand it in 2027.

Previously, the studio redesigned the game so that it could be played alone or as a PvE adventure, we talked about this in the material Dune: Awakening gets a full single-player mode.On Russian Steam Dune: Awakening is now on sale for 2990 ₽.
