Dragon Quest Monsters will feature co-op battles and a series of 50 fights without a break

Square Enix told what the players will do after the first hours in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World.In addition to the story journey and breeding of creatures, the RPG will receive joint online battles against giant monsters, rating battles, a separate offline arena and a new Wrangler’s Gauntlet mode.In the latter you need to endure 50 consecutive battles with a changing team.

Co-op battles and crossplay

After a certain stage in history, online entertainment will open.In Online Joint Battles, players team up to defeat particularly powerful monsters.Daily quests and special events related to famous creatures of the Dragon Quest series are promised.Network modes will support crossplay between platforms.

For competitive players, there are Ranked Matches with seven ranks ranging from Beginner to Legendary.Victories earn points which determine standings at the end of the season.There will also be Private Matches, where participants can change the rules, such as the number of rounds or the available replacement creatures in the stock.

What can you do without the Internet?

You can fight completely offline in Battle Arena.Based on information from Square Enix, Bianca and Nera will be introduced to the arena after visiting Witherwood Castle.For those who don't like PvP, this is a way to test the strength of a team without online opponents.

Wranglers Society will appear in the network hub: the characters of other players leave their own teams to fight against.For winning, you will be allowed to spin the wheel with rewards.The online store will update its assortment depending on the day of the week and story progression.

Wrangler's Gauntlet: fifty battles with restrictions

The most unusual mechanic is a separate roguelike mode, which opens later in the story.At the beginning of the attempt, the hero receives a random set of monsters.After each victory, you can synthesize creatures using both your own team and defeated opponents.This forces you to build tactics from those resources that fell in the current run.

Wrangler Points are awarded for victories, which can be spent in a special challenge store.Creatures and items obtained in Gauntlet are not carried over to the main campaign: The mode has its own progression.Therefore, you cannot simply assemble the strongest permanent team and go through the entire series using the same techniques.

Release date

The Withered World is out December 3 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series, Switch and Switch 2.
