Messages from public Discord servers will appear in web searches from mid-December

Discord has decided to make discussions on its most public servers accessible to search engines.Starting November 16, 2026, each server in the Server Discovery catalog will have its own web page, and from mid-December, individual messages from public channels can be shown on these pages and in web search. The company announced this in its official blog.

Which servers does this apply to?

The changes will only affect Discoverable Servers: these are the most open servers on the platform. To be included in the directory, a server needs at least 1,000 members, at least eight weeks old, and must meet activity and security requirements. You can join them without an invitation link. Now there are more than 63 thousand such servers.Personal servers, private messages and group chats remain closed and are not included in the changes.

Server web pages and search

The Server Web Page describes the server so a person can decide whether to join.It can also show recaps of discussions from channels that are visible to all participants. Some messages from open channels will begin to appear on such pages and in searches from mid-December 2026.Discord warns that the launch will be gradual, and the first messages on the network may not appear until several weeks later.Usernames and avatars will not appear next to messages.

The idea is to return to gaming communities what forums used to provide: answers to questions about walkthroughs, builds and tactics have been sitting in chats for years, where they are difficult to get.Developers see search as a way to find the answer they need and immediately jump into the discussion.

How to refuse publication

Server administrators can disable channel participation now: the settings are located in the Server Settings section, Web Presence item. You can select individual channels or opt out completely. If you do not change anything, open channels will remain enabled, and the server page will go live on November 16th.

Regular users can also block the display of their messages: the switch is located in User Settings, section Data and Privacy. One setting applies to all Discoverable Servers.Channel recaps are created separately, so they will remain on the pages until admins disable them.
