Bungie has changed plans for Destiny 2 and has begun working on returning content that previously ended up in the Destiny Content Vault. The studio speaks directly about campaigns, locations and raids: they should again become available to all players after technical adaptation to the current version of the game.
This is not an instant "inclusion of old files".In the years since Beyond Light, Destiny 2 has seen changes to its lighting, enemies, combat systems, and internal infrastructure, so remote activities will need to be updated and retested.Bungie has not yet announced the timing of the first wave of return.
Destiny is once again a long-term priority for Bungie
In an address from the new management, the studio admitted that in recent years it had lost some of the trust of the audience and shifted its attention away from what the players considered the main thing. Now Destiny is once again being called the foundation of Bungie's future. The studio considers the return of old content as the first step, after which new stories and projects should appear in the universe.

Bungie previously called Monuments of Triumph the final content update for Destiny 2, but the community's reaction forced them to reconsider this line.In parallel, the studio will continue to develop Marathon, emphasizing that it was not intended to replace Destiny.About how Bungie previously denied rumors of a merger between Marathon and Destiny, we have already written separately.
Why will the refund take time?
The main technical problem is that modern Destiny 2 is no longer identical to the 2020 version.Bungie lists the need to rework lighting, encounters, enemy behavior, and other basic elements. Therefore, the studio does not promise a one-time return of the entire archive and plans to reveal details as individual parts are ready.

For players, this means that old campaigns and raids won't just become an archived app.Bungie wants to integrate them into the actual game and bring back access to an important part of the series' history without having to look for retellings. The studio promises to announce the following details in the coming months.
