Call of Duty's total revenue for all time has exceeded $40 billion. This was announced by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma on October 26, a few days after the release of Modern Warfare 4.

Words from the head of Xbox

In her post, Sharma called the new part one of the most highly rated games in the 24-year history of the series, congratulated the Activision team and thanked the players. She headed Xbox in the spring of 2026, and in the summer she stated that Call of Duty was “more than the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Numbers compared to Marvel

If we count only theatrical releases, according to various estimates, all Marvel films have grossed between $31 and $35 billion worldwide, VGTimes reports. So Sharma's words are now backed up by numbers.True, with toys, clothes, licenses and streaming, Marvel is again moving far ahead. For Call of Duty itself, the growth is still noticeable: in 2022, the series’ revenue was about 30 billion, which means that approximately 10 billion have been added in four years.

Modern Warfare 4 Reception

The game was released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 and completes the story of the Modern Warfare relaunch, which began in 2019.Critics have praised the campaign, especially the line in South Korea.According to VGTimes, the new product has about 90 percent positive reviews on Steam, which is the best result for the series since 2010.Last year's Black Ops 7 had about 39 percent positive reviews.

We wrote about the launch separately: campaign, DMZ mode and 12 maps at launch. The next step in the series will go beyond games: Taylor Sheridan is working on a Call of Duty film, the premiere is planned for 2028.
