505 Games and ArtPlay showed new gameplay for Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement at Tokyo Game Show. The sequel to Ritual of the Night revolves around two heroes - Leonard "Leo" Brandon and Alexander "Alex" Kyteler - and makes their teamwork central to the mechanics of exploration and combat.
The events take place in England in the 16th century. The ethereal castle of the demon Elias is growing over the country, and the previous troops of the Church and the kingdom were unable to destroy it.Leo and Alex become a new attempt to get to the owner of the fortress.
Two heroes work as a single system
Buddy System allows you to instantly switch between characters while the second one helps with the game controls. This is used not only in battles: the pair's abilities are needed for traps, movement and access to certain areas of the world.
The developers also showed off the Epiphany Combat System, a system for learning and customizing new techniques.Equipment changes not only the characteristics, but also the appearance of the characters, and crafting and cooking will remain between battles.

The map will be the largest in Bloodstained
ArtPlay calls the world of The Scarlet Engagement the largest map in the series. An additional role is played by the change of time of day: morning, afternoon, evening and night affect the environment and events.
The game will be released in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.The publisher has not yet announced the exact date, but the new trailer already shows much more of the actual playthrough than the earlier announcement.
