Battlefield Studios is preparing the final phase of the fourth season of Battlefield 6 - Tidal Strike. The update will be released on September 15, 2026 and will affect the main multiplayer, REDSEC and Portal.
Publisher Electronic Arts has already revealed some of the changes before publishing the full update notes. The focus is on the balance of the Breakthrough mode on Tsuru Reef, improvements to technology, communication in REDSEC and new opportunities for Portal authors.

Breakthrough on Tsuru Reef is being rebalanced
According to Battlefield Studios, the current version of Breakthrough on Tsuru Reef is tilted too heavily in favor of the defending team. The developers will reconsider the boundaries of capture zones, the position of individual targets, spawn points and the availability of equipment.
The playing space in some sectors will be expanded so that the attacking side has more routes to bypass. They also promised additional opportunities to use boats to flank defenders.
Sights and equipment will also change
Tidal Strike will rework the display of aiming marks: they want to make them cleaner and more visible on different backgrounds. For a number of sights, too large dots and other elements that interfere with the view will be reduced.
The RCB-90 Patrol Boat should become more predictable in handling, and the damage of miniguns to patrol boats and ATP will be reduced. The Little Bird minigun, on the other hand, will overheat faster.Additionally, pilots will no longer be able to see the locking direction of some homing anti-aircraft weapons.

Proximity Chat coming to REDSEC
REDSEC will begin testing voice chat by distance. The voices of other players will be positioned in space, walls and rooms will affect audibility, and the system will be able to reproduce up to four interlocutors at the same time.
Players will still have the mute, block, and report tools.Battlefield Studios emphasizes that the feature is being launched as a Battlefield Labs test in a live game, so parameters may change or be temporarily disabled based on feedback.
At the same time, there will be additional measures against inactive players and early exit from certain competitive playlists. The AFK Kick system will first alert the inactive participant, and repeated early exits from designated modes may result in increasing matchmaking restrictions.

Portal will get an ocean sandbox
In Portal, King of the Hill and Domination modes will become Verified Modes. The developers will also add Ocean Sandbox Map, an open water framework for custom scenarios, and expand tools for working with water and clouds.
A two-week Battlefield 6 first anniversary event with challenges and rewards is planned for late September.REDSEC will also feature the Phantom Program, where players will have to collect data and recover the Fort Lyndon security passcode.
Which part of Tidal Strike is more important to you - the Tsuru Reef rebalancing, proximity chat, or the new Portal features?
