Armed Fantasia was created by Wild Bunch Productions with input from Wild Arms veterans including game designer Akifumi Kaneko. The game was supposed to be a Western punk RPG with world exploration, character gadgets, and a turn-based combat system.

In 2022, the project participated in a joint Kickstarter campaign with Penny Blood. The campaign raised 379.3 million yen—about $2.4 million at the time—from approximately 18,000 participants.Later, 505 Games became the publisher of Armed Fantasia, although this became publicly known only from the current report.

The release was originally planned for March 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, but then the game was postponed indefinitely. In March 2026, Kaneko reported that the team handed over vertical slice to the publisher - a playable fragment with the main scenario and key game systems.

The financial document itself speaks specifically about the cessation of development by Digital Bros.At the time of publication, Wild Bunch Productions had not separately announced that it was permanently canceling the project or refusing to seek other financing. No plans for returns or compensation for Kickstarter backers have been announced yet.
