The first major patch of the World of Warcraft: Forever beta will bring noticeably stronger weather effects back to Azeroth.Blizzard responded to feedback from players who felt that the new version of the classic world lacked snowfall, rainfall and fog that could actually change visibility.

Weather was part of the atmosphere of old WoW

In early versions of World of Warcraft, heavy snow in Dun Morogh or rain in other regions could significantly reduce viewing distance.Over time, the effect became softer, and in the Forever beta, players quickly noticed that the updated image did not fully return this feature.

The developers have confirmed enhanced weather effects for beta zones. It's not just new combat mechanics: Blizzard is bringing back a visual system that more strongly emphasizes regional differences and makes travel less uniform in lighting and visibility.

Forever is built around the familiar, but not the same, Azeroth

The project starts as a separate permanent home next to Modern and Classic WoW.It uses the original continents, but adds new missions, zones and reworked systems. The beta began on September 17 and will last until October 21, with a full launch scheduled for November 4, 2026.

The start of the beta turned out to be much more difficult than expected due to queues - we wrote about this in the material “World of Warcraft: Forever beta launched with hour-long queues and disconnections”.After the first technical problems, Blizzard is already switching to changes to the atmosphere and world itself.

The change will appear before release

Enhanced weather is being tested in beta, so the team will be able to adjust the intensity before the November launch. For Forever, this is an indicative type of update: the developers are not just adding content, but trying to bring back the details that players associate with the feel of the early World of Warcraft.
